WIRED
Undeniably handy. Smooth ballpoint action-a pleasure to write with. Construction is impressive, with cleverly rotating parts, a satisfying heft, and tasteful color choices. Paper sports cool centimeter and inch markings.
TIRED
Gummed "Post-It" style cartridges are best avoided-the paper doesn't pull out cleanly, and adhesive is marginal. Excessive scribblers better have excessive funds-replacement paper cartridges are $10 per trio. Stylistic flourishes may be off-putting for Muggles.

"Master, what is this wand with which you scribe? 'Tis neither quill nor parchment, and yet somehow both... is it sorcery?" No, young apprentice, no magic here-just an ingenious ballpoint pen with a built-in, replaceable paper cartridge tucked into the top part of the barrel. The standard (ungummed) paper rolls out smoothly, tears cleanly, never snags, and while the 2-inch mini-reams don't last forever, cartridge changes are a snap. The designers emblazoned the Scroll Pen with a rune-like symbol, a stylistic touch that adds to the already substantial geek factor. But let's face it, if you're looking to impress the ladies-unless you're at an RPG convention (or WIRED party)-it's probably best to keep this one safely tucked away in your pants.
