The new AC/DC album "Black Ice" has been a boon to Wal-Mart -- it helped drive sales of video games, apparel, and other guy stuff during the third quarter.

"Our stores merchandised [the] band's newest CD in our young men's apparel area along with video gaming systems. The result was great sales for both the music and apparel areas," said Eduardo Castro-Wright, a Wal-Mart EVP and president and CEO of Wal-Mart U.S., during Thursday's conference call.

That's gotta suck for Apple, since AC/DC chose not to sell the album through iTunes because it didn't want to sell singles.

"If we were on iTunes, we know a certain percentage of people would only download two or three songs from the album - and we don't think that represents us musically," guitarist Angus Young told the Telegraph awhile back.
