Although he didn't get a nod as director, Ben Affleck did get to take the stage last night as producer of the film Argo, which won Best Picture. Way to go, Ben!
GeekMom's Andrea Schwalm reviewed Argo for us in October. As she mentions, the story is based (with some dramatic license) on previously-classified, real-life events reported in 2007 by Joshuah Bearman in the excellent Wired article “How the CIA Used a Fake Sci-Fi Flick to Rescue Americans From Tehran.”
We were also happy to see Daniel Day Lewis win Best Actor for Lincoln, and Brave take the honors for Best Animated film. And of course our girl Jennifer Lawrence of Hunger Games, who won Best Actress for Silver Linings Playbook – and who showed enormous aplomb when she tripped on her gown headed to the podium, causing Les Misérables star Hugh Jackman to rush to her aid.
What did you think of last night's Oscar show? Did your favorites win?
